Events @ BKLYN DESIGNS 2007 All events were free with admission, and took place at St. Ann's Warehouse, 38 Water St., unless otherwise noted. Free shuttle bus service was provided all weekend between Union Square, DUMBO, and 110 LIVINGSTON, and between DUMBO and Forté Condominiums in Fort Greene.

3pm The Designer and The Designed: Metropolis Books at powerHouse Arena - 37 Main St. Author Akiko Busch read from The Uncommon Life of Common Objects and co-authors Kira Gould and Lance Hosey (both from William McDonough + Partners) read from their new book, Women in Green: Voices of Sustainable Design; Susan Szenaxy, editor in chief, Metropolis engaged the authors in conversation.
4pm Going Green: Doable or Daunting? A Discussion of 3 Green Renovations Including the Brooklyn Home of Green Advocate and Actor Adrian Grenier Moderated by Michael Cannell, New York Editor, Dwell, with Karesse Grenier, NYC Real Estate Broker, Douglas Elliman; Lauren Gropper of GreenHomeNYC, Philip Higgs, Boulder-based journalist and green home owner; and David Bergman, LEED accredited architect and professor of sustainable design at Parsons School of Design.

PRATT STUDENT COMPETITION A jury of Design Within Reach curators along with editors from top design publications juried the Pratt Institute student exhibition at BKLYN DESIGNS. Three innovative projects were selected to be announced at the panel discussion What's Next? on Friday May 11 at 6pm. The winning projects will be on display at the Design Within Reach Brooklyn Heights Studio for one month following the show.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN Due to the tremendous response we received last year and our wholehearted commitment to the subject, the 2007 show again featured a special focus on “green” production materials and products.
ALL WEEKEND
MODELS AND PROTOTYPES BORN IN BROOKLYN BKLYN DESIGNS and the Brooklyn Arts Council, in cooperation with Metropolis, present Models and Prototypes Born in Brooklyn, which ran throughout the show weekend at powerHouse Arena, 37 Main Street. This unique exhibition explored the stages of creative process, featuring three-dimensional models and prototypes of furnishings designed in Brooklyn.
BRUNCH UNDER THE BRIDGES - MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND SPECIALS DUMBO retailers and restaurants rolled out the red carpet for moms during Mother's Day weekend with special sales, reduced-price musical concerts, brunch items, flowers and designer chocolates. More than 20 of DUMBO's top cultural venues, boutiques and eateries participated in this promotion that also included specials for guests with BKLYN DESIGNS wristbands.
